Be it resolved that the Laurier Liberals are stupid...

This afternoon, I attended an Ontario Young Liberals policy conference with Corinne. The event was held at the Bricker Academic Building, directly accross the street from my apartment. I showed up late, but I don't think I missed that much, one speaker... and the first part of the discussion on the need for another bridge to access the US from southwestern Ontario.
I did not know what to expect, it was my first time going to such an event, though I can say I have been activly interested in Canadian politics since 1991-ish, I have never formally done anything about it. I was really impressed with most of the policy ideas that were presented, and the calibre of the people at the conference, they all seemed like really neat people.... EXCEPT for those representing the campus club "The Laurier Liberals" what a bunch of Bull Shit ideas... I almost felt ashamed to be a Laurier student sitting in that conference.... while the groups from western and windsor seemed so with-it and on top of things, the Laurier kids just got more ridiculous as the event went on.
Corinne is a Laurier student and a Liberal, but she is a part of the Kitchener Waterloo Club, NOT the campus club, and I see why now.... The Laurier Liberals just seemed to pull policy out of their asses, and not really care if it was within the jurisdiction of the government or not. This club proposed policy on the environment AND on trying to make driving more accessible to all University Students.... contradictory? I think so...
There were 4 speakers, I missed the first one, the other three were two Liberal MP's, one from Kitchener Center, and one from Kitchener Waterloo, and a member of the municipal counsel. The Mp's were quite good speakers, very interesting, but the one from Kitchener Center was more interesting, only because she has a higher up role in the party as the party Whip, she is involved in the runnings of the party. She made some fun comments about David Emersons floor crossing, and also about how exciting a Liberal leadership race will be for the country, and of course, a snide remark or two about Mr. Harper. [who by the way is not allowing his peeps to talk to the media without his approval... a tad excessive.... I think so... check it ]
Overall, quite a cool little event, and not nearly as dull as Corinne led me to believe it would be, in fact, I got to talk about Bird Flu, any afternoon spent talking about Avian Flu is a good time in my books... Met some interesting people, and the best part, FREE KitKats at the break, the makings of a good sunday afternoon!!!
